49ers Match Last Year's Non-Division Win Total |
| San Francisco, CA 13 unanswered 4th quarter points turned a 16-6 deficit into a 19-16 victory for the 49ers. The win wasn't gaudy, or even pretty, but it's a win - something this year's 49ers are hoping for more of. Up next week are the Vikings in what should be an extremely tough early season test. |

49ers Continue to Add Talent |
San Francisco Fans all over San Francisco felt it seemed ludicrous for a passing team like the 49ers to enter the season with just 4 WRs on the roster, and it would seem that GM Brad Mallett agreed. Early this morning Mallett reached terms on a one year deal with veteran WR Bob Urban that will see him fill the 5th slot for the team. The 49ers now have probably the best depth at the WR position of anyone in the league, and that, of course, only makes sense.
One other move by Mallett to tidy things up before week 1 was to finally get around to taking care of TE Terry Costanza's holdout. Costanza's insisted that he wasn't trying to strong arm his way out of San Francisco, but merely wanted more money. While the TE initially was ignored by management, the move didn't seem to deter Costanza, so they team offered him a 3 year restructure, which the TE took. The team felt that with all the cap room it has, it was easier to give the TE a new deal than to find a decent replacement for Costanza's solid 41 catch, 6 TD performance last year. |

49ers Land Veteran WR |
| San Francisco, CA 6'5" veteran WR Landon Jean should help the 49ers' redzone offense this season, as he has joined the team as an unrestricted free agent. |

49ers Add Two |
$56 million dollars later, the 49rs are owner of LT Avery Coffee and QB Wade Millen. Both were offered identical 2 year $28m contracts with $11.21m bonuses. It's entirely possible neither will start, but the 49ers had cap room to spend and decided to get some insurance should incumbents LT Jake Orr and QB Oliver Carter prove not capable of pushing the team into the play-offs.
The 49ers are waiting decisions on their other UFA offers. |
