Off Season As Usual - Jets Trade for #1 Pick |
The New York Jets and Washington Redskins have agreed to a trade sending the first pick in this year's draft to the Jets. The price was very steep, but the Jets wanted to be in a position to get the top player in the draft, need something to keep things ineteresting. The actual trade is as follows:
Jets send:
CB Cory Williams
WR Thomas Quick
Pick 1.9
Pick 1.27
to the Redskins for:
Pick 1.1
Pick 3.1 |

Jets have found their franchise QB |
| After an exhaustive 13-year search the Jets have settled on a franchise QB. They have finally found a QB that has all the qualities they desire. While the team might continue to develop QBs, they are almost certain not to move Simon for many years. While he is young and still developing, after watching him in regular season games and many simulations the Jets love what they see. Watch out in a few years when his THA and AWR reach elite status along with a star-studden group of wide receivers. |

Jets Team Outlook |
QB Chris Simon - 6'4", 96 THP, 87 THA, 82 AWR - Tall QB who seems to have that intangible ability to bring a team back on crunch time. Second year players still needs to develop but, having everything the Jets look for in a QB, will be groomed as the franchise QB.
HB Ike Tinsley - 262lbs, 90 SPD, 89 AGI, 99 ACC, 99 CAR - Second year halfback is everything the Jets could want. He will be a fixture in the backfield for years to come.
FB Daryl Carrier - 244lbs, 88 SPD, 92 AGI, 90 ACC, 68 CAR - The third-year player has the speed, agility, and quickness the Jets look for in a FB. He should be one of the top backs in TWR and mainstay on the team.
WR K.C. Thomas - 6'2", 97 SPD, 94 AGI, 89 ACC, 92 CTH - In his third season Thomas will be moved to the #1 spot this year taking over Parkman. He got size, strength, and speed and will be tough to stop.
WR James Nelson - 6'4", 97 SPD, 90 AGI, 93 ACC, 72 CTH - The rookie is another big, strong, fast WR. He will be slotted for the #2 spot and once he develops his physical attribtues should be a nightmore for opposing cornerback.
WR Joe Lane - 6'2", 95 SPD, 89 AGI, 91 ACC, 79 CTH - Another rookie with great physical skills including the strength the Jets covet. Although listed as #3 on the depth chart the Jets will probably rotate their receivers and give them all a chance to develop. The teams feels any of it's three receivers can play anywhere on the field.
TE Luther Goodrich - 86 SPD, 75 STR, 84 AGI, 83 ACC - The third-year player has the speed, quickness, and agility the Jets love. They look for their TEs to be recievers first and blockers second and Goodrich should be one of the best in the league for years to come.
LT Bob Nipper - 330lbs, 61 SPD, 89 STR, 51 AGI, 99 ACC - Only 26 Nipper is expected to hold down the LT spot for the foreseeable future. Good size, great speed, and obscene accleration make him a force on the left side.
LG George Nickerson - 346lbs, 62 SPD, 87 STR, 55 AGI, 88 ACC - The rookie will take over the left guard spot this year. With great speed and acceleration for his size the spot is his to keep.
C Levon Thomas - 304lbs, 52 SPD, 91 STR, 57 AGI, 82 ACC - The third-year center nails down the middle of the line and is expected to lead the offensive line for many years. Another lineman with great physical assets.
RG Mac Cooper - 337lbs, 60 SPD, 90 STR, 67 AGI, 90 ACC - The second-year lineman will arguably one day best the best in TWR at what he does. He's got size, speed, strength, agility, and acceleration. What more is there to say?
RT Curtis Boone - 325lbs, 55 SPD, 95 STR, 64 AGI, 73 ACC - At 30 the only true veteran on the offensive side of the ball. Boone anchors the right side and protects the QB from sacks. The Jets will seek a replacement in future drafts, but don't feel that's an urgent need and Boone still has many good season left.
Offensive Outlook - This offense has the potential to be incredibly explosive. But with only two starters with more than three years experices the team will likely experience some growing pains. The Jets plan to stick with this lineup for several seasons and let them develop. They should be extremely difficult to stop with a few seasons of progression.
LE Glenn Clausen - 317lbs, 67 SPD, 84 STR, 65 AGI, 90 ACC - The Jets drafted Clausen to take over the left end position. He's got great attributes but really needs to develop his football smarts. However, in this year's minicamps he's look good.
DT Harry Dunbar - 356 lbs, 59 SPD, 92 STR, 56 AGI, 86 ACC - One of the best NTs in TWR and still ony 28 he clogs up the middle and allows the Jets linebackers to roam freely.
RE Ryan Turk - 301 lbs, 69 SPD, 90 STR, 66 AGI, 83 ACC - The 28-year old Turk completes the Jets line and has all the skills to be one of the best 3-4 defensive ends in TWR.
LOLB Ronnie Kelly - 84 SPD, 80 STR, 76 AGI, 94 ACC - 27 year-old Kelly will man the left outside lineback spot for many more years. The teams love his speed/acceleration combination and his strength helps as well.
MLB Leon Millard - 83 SPD, 76 STR, 85 AGI, 92 ACC - At 28 years old Millard has developed into one of the premier middle linebackers in TWR. He has great attributes and his knowledge of the game make him a force in the middle.
MLB Marcus Wilson - 80 SPD, 79 STR, 77 AGI, 86 ACC - The 25-year old Wilson is great #2 MLB in the Jets 3-4 scheme. Yes, they were looking at an upgrade in the draft, but are quite satisfied with the way he's played over the years. The team believes he is one of the best MLBs in TWR.
ROLB Kevin Turley - 85 SPD, 72 STR, 88 AGI, 90 ACC - Huge linebacker with great physical skills. the 30-year old Turely is one of the best OLBs in TWR. They will probably look to select an eventual replacement through the draft, but team feels Turley still has several exceptional years left.
CB Corey Martin - 6'0", 99 SPD, 92 AGI, 96 AWR, 94 JMP - The third-year player is still learning the game, but as his AWR goes up he will become one of the top corners in TWR. With obscene physical skills and good size he in the prototypical shutodown corner.
CB Ike Williams - 6'0", 95 SPD, 95 AGI, 91 ACC, 91 JMP - Still only 27, Ike is the backbone of the defensive secondary. Extremely smart he consistently makes great plays and helps the younger guys develop.
CB Cory Wiliams - 6'1", 92 SPD, 91 AGI, 95 ACC, 96 JMP - Another great youong corner the second-year CB just needs to learn the game better before turning into one of the best nickel backs in TWR. He's got everything you look for in that position.
FS Shaun Carter - 6'0", 90 SPD, 93 AGI, 97 ACC, 83 JMP - At 27 one of the top free safeties in TWR. Fast, agile, and quick he's a sold performer.
FS Doug Newman - 5'11", 93 SPD, 87 AGI, 92 ACC, 81 JMP - One his rookie develops he may challenge for the starting role. At 93 SPD, 90 AGI, and 95 ACC I don't think you'll find many safeties. He was the Jets top-rated safety and the team was extremely please to find him with the 2.25 pick in this year's draft.
SS Travis Evans - 6'4", 91 SPD, 89 AGI, 90 ACC, 81 JMP - At 28 Evans is an elite strong safety. With great size, speed and very good agility and acceleartion he hits like a truck.
SS Jameel Schaffer - 6'1", 88 SPD, 86 AGI, 91 ACC, 90 JMP - The Jets got extremely lucky with this pick. Fellow GM Harbinger, known for getting the most out of the draft skew, advised the Jets regarding this player so the team took a chance. When his speed skewed up to 88, the Jets knew they had a SS they could groom for the future.
Defensive Outlook - The defense is much more seasoned than they offense and should be the strength of the team for the next few years. Unlike the offensive unit the defense has several players in the their prime and in two years, when the offense has had a chance to mature, the Jets should be a real force.
K Andre Braxton - 99 KPW, 99 KAC, 78 AWR - As good as they come in TWR. Braxton, although 30, has many good years still in the tank.
P Fred Whitfield - 99 KPW, 89 KAC, 73 AWR - Whitfiled is perhaps the best punter TWR has ever seen and, despite a somewhat off year for him, shows little sign of slowing down.
Special Teams Outlook - As good as it gets. The Jets will probably wait a few years before looking for replacements as these guys should have at least five good years left. |

Let's Make a Deal - Jets Move Up |
The Jets paid a heavy price but have secured the 1.2 pick in the upcoming draft. Sending CB Preston and the 1.15 pick to the Seahawks was a difficult decision. However, the Jets have targetted one must have player in this draft and paid the price to get him. Having also been in discussions with the Cowboys, the Jets do not feel that team will select the top player on their board. If they do, there's plenty of time to find that team another GM.
Jets are also close to trading QB Landon Farmer, one of the top young guns in TWR. They are just waiting to hear from a few GMs before finalizing a deal, which will be completed one way or another tomorrow.
Some big moves, but after missing the playoffs this year the team did not want to stand pat. With four solid CBs Preston was expendable, and while Farmer is a future Hall of Famer, the Jets loved what they saw in rookie Simon last year, and will ride his strong arm this coming season. |
