6-Man Rotation
October 07, 2009 - 6-Man Rotation

Rarely do you see a team loaded up at the quarterback position, because the most one will need is a great backup in case your starting quarterback goes down. Although the Houston Texans are not loaded with great quarterbacks, they do have 6 live bodies on the depth chart at that position.

The one who leads the group is veteran quarterback John Lewis. He is having a solid career in TWR, but it is far from spectecular. Getting towards the back end of his career, the team needs to develop their franchise quarterback and hopefully one that can turn this team around.

After John Lewis, they have 5 young prospects with 2 years of experience or less, including 3 rookies drafted in this past draft. Aric Sanders is the top talent out of the 5, he has a prototype quarterback body, and he has an exceptional knowledge on the game as a rookie. The only weakness at this point is his slightly below par throwing accuracy.

3rd year Stephen Knight has some great tool as well, but his upside is limited as he is already at 24 years of age. He can still turn into a great one, but playing time is a must for him in order to do that.

Krk Lyle, another rookie from this past draft, is a raw version of Aric Sanders. To round up the crew, they have two big quarterbacks, a rocket arm in Rondell Nelson, it will make Texans fans think of a former Texans Ken Stevens, and his career turns out fine thus far. Curtis Malone 6th and last of this crew.

The offense has been the problem throughout all these years for the Texans. One of the major reasons is they are lacking a true game changing receiver. Drafting Dusty McGwire will be a big boost to the team as general manager Ricky Lung finally have his first true speed wideout in his TWR days.

How big of an impact is this pick is still too early to say, but it will definitely be an interesting race at the quarterback position in the next couple of seasons. There are no shortage of different looks that the Texans can throw out on the field. General manager Ricky Lung does promise that all of them will see action in this season.

Rookie Receiver Andre Vuong to Start
March 9, 2009 - Rookie Receiver Andre Vuong to Start

With the best start he even has in TWR, Texans general manager Ricky Lung is trying to make it last as long as it can. The first two victories are far from convincing and they are having a tough time preparing for the upcoming Steelers matchup. In order to spark the offense, Ricky Lung is going to give rookie receiver Andre Vuong his first TWR start this week. The team likes the upside of Vuong and made a move during the draft to get him. He also worked hard during training since coming in. A lot of GMs around the league will think he is just an ordinary receiver at best, but the Texans like him a lot, as he has a very similar game as another diamond in the rough as they called in Frank Perz. They both have the size and decent athleticism along with good hands and knowledge as a rookie.

"...He is just a boarderline receiver in most people's eyes. Of cause, who doesn't want to have a stud receiver with great size and speed. Most receivers are bad if only those with size and speed are considered good. It is more about playing good player in the right system than playing great player in the wrong system. Vuong's height will create a lot of problems for Steelers corners and hopefully it will give us an advantage and give him some valuable starting experience..."

Houston Texans Draft Room
March 30, 2008 - Houston Texans Draft Room

With the TWR annual entry draft is underway earlier today, the Houston Texans general manager Ricky Lung and his scouts are working ongoing evaluations of different prospects. In this room, you will find all the draft updates of the Texans throughout the draft:

1.03 - RE Andrew Kennedy - 23 yrs old - 6'4" - 276lbs - Tulane
1.28 - CB Glenn Fox - 22 yrs old - 5'11" - 204lbs - Louisville
3.03 - SS O.J. Wheeler - 23 yrs old - 6'4" - 231lbs - Notre Dame
5.10 - CB Terrell Reynolds - 24 yrs old - 6'0" - 192lbs - Oklahoma State
6.10 - HB Henry Moye - 22 yrs old - 6'0" - 221lbs - Ohio State
7.03 - TE Toby Carter - 21 yrs old - 6'7" - 268lbs - Alabama
The Houston Texans had a few options in mind when they were on the clock with the third overall pick, they ended up drafting defensive end Andrew Kennedy. People around the league are heavily criticize the pick due to the lack of acceleration. The Texans took the chance and hope he will have the same type of speed he recorded during the combine and they will be happy.

The Texans got another first round pick by trading a pair of their 2015 draft picks to the Patriots. The Texans drafted corner Glenn Fox with the pick. Fox has the speed and awareness and is ready to contribute right away.

Houston does not have a pick until early third after the two first round picks. They draft strong safety O.J. Wheeler with it. Wheeler has the size, he can be a good player if he plays with the effort he did during the combine.

The Texans do not have a pick until the 5th round, but they picked up 3 potential starters out of the late rounds. The Texans are desperately need some cornerbacks and they get another one in the 5th round in Terrell Reynolds. They may also find their starting running back and tight end in the 6th and 7th.
